Encouraging nesting nature's way

My back garden is a typical suburban plot but allowed to be as natural as possible. In other words, scruffy!

I intended to mow the lawn in late April 2010. As you can see, looking at my fence (panoramic view right to left) it appears rundown and overgrown. As I grabbed the lawnmower I noticed a Robin fly ftom the ivy on the left of the picture shown below.

So I grabbed my camera and investigated.

I left the mowing for another day - which finally happened in May when the fledglings flew away.
